As the warmer weather rolls around, everyone in the hairstyling world braces for the start of "bridal season." To get our readership base of nearly 100,000 subscribers ready for the action, team BTC partnered with top wedding stylist Stephanie Brikerhoff to get her take on all the hottest styles she's predicting for spring and summer brides.
Bridal Hair Forecast: Perfectly Imperfect (excerpt)
Think you’ve got your go-to bridal looks down to a science? Think again. This season, expect a wedding hair overhaul. Gone are the days of poufy, severe styles: in their place are natural, flowing, laid-back looks that are sure to turn heads--think casual chic. Intrigued, we asked BTC’s bridal hair go-to girl and author of our newly published book, Elegant Upstyles for Today’s Bride, Stephanie Brinkerhoff, what she’s expecting for the upcoming bridal season.
According to Stephanie, the curls have definitely gotten softer and looser, and the updos are less structured and more romantic. Hollywood’s embracing the trend, too. From Gossip Girl to the Oscars’ red carpet, celebrities have been loving the free-flowing, Bohemian, “looks like you didn’t (but you did)” styles, including loose waves, messy braids and simple ponytails.
For the more traditional bride, Stephanie points out that timeless styles aren’t gone for good just yet! Brides still request classic looks like sleep chignons and vintage updos. “It’s a different kind of elaborate--more timeless and classic looking,” says Stephanie.
Here’s a peek at some of Stephanie’s favorite bridal looks for the upcoming season. To get a jump on your incoming crowd of spring and summer bridal clients, also check out Stephanie’s new book, Elegant Upstyles for Today’s Bride, where you’ll find more than 100 styling images and step-by-step instructions for the most sought after looks for today’s modern bride.
